Daniel Gould to Jim Driscoll

Hey JD;

What are you smoking these days? I mean this is the third time I am sending the addresses (see e-mail dated 2nd May and 16th April, below).

As to Starlin C. I do see more than a flash in the pan. Come September you may have to eat your mitt. You CAN'T go 4 for 4 three times in the first six weeks, of the season, on luck alone...and especially at that tender age of 21. And the age factor is important. Think back to win we were kids, players came up to the big leagues young. Kaline is the best example. Today, a "young rookie" is more generally 24 or 25.

The Internet has given the baseball fan access to their favorite teams that wasn't available in earlier years. That is, I can check the Cubs' minor league affiliates throughout the season looking for young talent. Castro moved through the system so fast that he was a blur and didn't really get my attention until he was called up last year at the age of 20. The opposing pitchers are now trying to find his weak spot. They know already that a ball in the strike zone just doesn't slip by. They are now going for the extremes of the zone; if Castro can manage to wait for his pitch and not be suckered, well, he'll be one of the great ones. Kid you not!!!

Forgot to mention when I sent the Virgil Trucks info that the man is still alive---94---and living in sweet home Alabama...

Sincerely;

Dan

Your friendly update on the exploits of C&B, Castro and Barney, the Cubs duo wonder boys: Friday: both went 3 for 5; Sat. Both went 2 for 3. Castro now at .338 and Barney .333. Hmmmm. What to make of that?

Hi, Again;

You will receive this message twice, but this one has an addition to the first....

Date: Wed, 25 May 2011 14:21:29 +0200

Hi JD;

Well, this is bad news. I don't see how the book will get there before the 27th. May. And please don't forget to inscribe it. Example: "More than a few of these movies, I talk about, your grandfather and I saw together...etc."

For both addresses scroll down (Sat. 16th April) and to the end of that e-mail.

Last week I Googled: Jim Driscoll, B-movies. And, guess what, your book popped up about 20+ times and each click on was a different book seller/distributor. This is more like it. What did you do? I am anxious to learn if this new status generates orders. Keep me informed.

Barney was 2 for 5 (.324) and Castro 3 for 5 (.330) on Tuesday. Castro now has four triples for the season and they both have 24 RBIs. Not bad for "flukes."

Sincerely;

Dan

Hi JD;

Now your nit-picking...you left out the fact that the team combined for only three hits in nine innings. Chalk it up to good pitching.

Sincerely;

Dan
